Now if we could just get one of these that ranks all the awesome advice coming from the 5 gajillion self-proclaimed “social media guru”s on Twitter — or maybe that would be redundant.

Dan Stevens: Ah, yes … sanitised American nowhere towns and pretty young people wearing plaid. There’s a lot of it around at the moment. These ads are totally non-threatening and cool whilst appealing to a broad range of people…. But I’m bored of it now – it’s a visual and musical cliché. It seems to have taken over from vaguely harmless electronica as the ‘in’ sound of advertising.

On the way we met up with Manara, who you will be glad to know I found (on facebook). We left a room of arguing, theorising mainly men in favour of a room of batty shaking, sweating, raving women. I don’t fully...

“I wanted to serve up a bunch of the stuff me and my mates at Wireblock have been digging recently: a good dosage of funky, some Baltimore, rave and good dubstep (Zomby). There’s also an exclusive sneak peak of two of our label’s forthcoming releases: “Bad Science” by Rustie and Ghosts On Tape’s massive “Predator Mode”, a track currently being remixed by Roska for release on Wireblock in the...

“Happiness is love. Full stop.” Dr. George Vaillant, director of a 72-year Harvard study on aging, explains what makes people strive for fame and why dirty laundry symbolizes a perfect life. Esther Leslie on Oskar Fischinger - TATE ETC. →
In 1938-1939 Fischinger was hired by the Disney studio as a “motion picture cartoon effects animator”, earning $60 a week. Having animated the sparkle of the blue fairy’s wand in Pinocchio, and thereby converted his abstract powers directly into Disney magic, he produced sketches and try-outs for Bach’s toccata and fugue section in Fantasia. In one major sequence,...
