Blitzen Trapper - Farthest Shore (unreleased)

In the spirit of holiday giving, here’s an unreleased track from the Trapper.  This one is from the aborted album that came before Wild Mountain Nation.  I remember sitting in the Civic in my old SE Portland driveway waiting for it to finish, on first or second listen, totally struck by it’s prettiness and really digging that little melodica bit.  You can download the MP3 here.

I’ve always loved the way this song captures the kind of warm surrealness and nostalgia this time of year brings.  You’re just going about your life, doing routine stuff, distracted, then oh yeah, it’s totally Christmas again, isn’t it?  Donkey Kong, Steve McQueen, Christmas is Coming Soon.  Yep.
