Alela Diane - “Every Path” (DUMBO West Session)

Nice to see Rough Trade continuing with these beautifully shot, intimate performance videos for Alela. She’s a talented lady, and a total sweetheart. You can purchase the new album in a bunch of formats (including double vinyl and FLAC) here, and I posted the other video here.

Alela Diane DUMBO session: My Brambles | Pitchfork.tv

Here’s a little sunshine for you. Alela, her dad, and her boyfriend, filmed at a funky old church (that’s called The Funky Church) in Portland, Oregon. Just three people who love each other making lovely music about love. It’s a good thing.

Alela Diane - White As Diamonds

This is from Alela’s forthcoming album, To Be Still, out February on Rough Trade/Fargo/Names.  The album as a whole and this song in particular are truly and deeply beautiful.  I still remember Alela playing this one two years ago at SXSW, including this Daytrotter take, and it remains one of my favorite songs she’s done.  Grab the mp3 here or here.  She’s playing right after Christmas in Nevada City, opening for her dad’s Grateful Dead cover band, and I so hope I can make it.

Here’s a nice little session with the lovely and talented Alela Diane. Her charm comes though, as always, and that voice is the real deal. The new album is really, really wonderful, more lush and symphonic with really strong songs. Keep your eyes on this lady.
