“This week, we invite you to bring an article of bad news from a newspaper near you. They are not hard to find, I’m sure you can quickly find one about the economy, health care, hunger, food security, etc. We’re going to take that bad news and after sheet mulching it into soil it will become good news.”

Chris Burley, Hayes Valley Farm

So yeah, pretty stoked about this new urban farm starting up two blocks from my apartment.  Seems like they’ve got the right idea.

I absolutely love Boon Design’s logo for Sightglass, a new-ish coffee shop in San Francisco.  I’ve yet to check out the shop itself.

Flux Summit

I’ll be taking part in a panel on digital marketing as it relates to music at today’s Flux Summit in San Francisco.  The moderator is ex-XLR8R editor and current cool dude Tomas Palermo, and my fellow panelists are Leeor Brown (Terrorbird), Steffen Franz (IDC), and J-Boogie.  Hopefully I can think of some super smart stuff to say, and if I can’t, I’m sure someone else can.  Come say hi!

Just stumbled onto the design portfolio of wkem™ aka Patrick Corrigan.  It’s a little more “techno” than I usually go for (and no, I’m not entirely sure what I mean by that), but very well executed.  Turns out he’s also the one behind all those nice San Francisco International Film Fest posters I saw around town a while back.  Small world/web/coast/city.

“Leon’s Creation hail from San Francisco, they released this album on the small Studio 10 label. I think some people have a misconception that this is a funk record, I would classify it more as psychedelic soul ala Sly and the Family Stone. This is a fantastic record that has simply slipped through the cracks. Why this hasn’t been reissued yet is beyond me. Definitely one worth seeking out in my opinion. This is a @320 vinyl rip of the original Studio 10 label including covers.”

Woah, sweet! Stuff like this makes me like the internet a little more. I mean how else would I ever be hearing this music? Music that was made in my own backyard just a few decades ago, no less. So far it’s a very pleasant listen, not totally essential or anything, but really warm and sweet and perfect for a sunny Wednesday. (via minusbaby)
